Who We Are
Hugs of Hope was formed by the Pitts family, encompassing the vision Elizabeth Pitts had for the organization. Elizabeth wanted a foundation that helped the patient, the siblings, the parents, and the community who supported the family. As well, she wanted to ensure that more was done in her community to help pediatric cancer families and to raise awareness to this deadly disease.
What We Do
We assist local families with not only financial needs but social and emotional support as well. We assist each family on an individual basis, but typically each family receives a flat sum when joining Hugs of Hope to offset travel expenses incurred with treatment. In addition to financial support, we keep in contact with families through phone calls, emails, and social media to keep up with the patient and the family.
For families
Families in and around Lowndes County, Georgia can contact us for more information and support. We have a simple application for the family to complete, and we begin assistance immediately. Parents are encouraged to establish a social media communication outlet for their child so that people can follow their journey. At this time, financial records are not requested in order to receive assistance.
